FileDedup is a macOS duplicate-file finder developed by KIWINEXT Studio. Your files and the information derived from them stay on your Mac. This policy explains how the FileDedup app handles information and the limited circumstances in which we may receive information outside the app.
Information FileDedup does not collect
The FileDedup app does not automatically collect, upload, transmit, or store on developer servers any of the following:
- Your files, file contents, file names, or file paths
- File hashes, scan results, exported reports, or deletion records
- Device identifiers, usage analytics, crash reports, or telemetry
- Advertising identifiers or information used for advertising or user tracking
FileDedup does not use advertising SDKs, third-party analytics SDKs, or user-tracking SDKs. We do not sell personal information or share it with data brokers.
Local processing and file access
File scanning, size comparison, hash calculation, duplicate detection, and cleanup are performed locally on your Mac. Files, hashes, and scan results do not leave your device, and FileDedup does not rely on a cloud service to detect duplicates.
FileDedup accesses only files and folders you actively choose. Read access is used to scan selected locations and calculate hashes. Write access is used only when you direct the app to move selected duplicates to the Trash or permanently delete them. The app does not proactively scan other locations without your action.
Reports you export
FileDedup can export HTML, JSON, and TXT reports only when you choose to do so. These reports are saved to a location you select and may include file names, paths, and scan results. Reports are never automatically uploaded. Their storage, sharing, and deletion are entirely under your control.
Deletion actions
Files moved to the Trash may be recoverable by you until the Trash is emptied. Permanent deletion occurs only after you explicitly choose it. KIWINEXT Studio cannot access, recover, or back up deleted files. Please review your selection carefully before permanently deleting files.
App Store information
Apple may process App Store downloads, purchases, payments, and account activity under its own privacy policy. FileDedup does not receive your complete payment information.
Support emails and website logs
The FileDedup app does not automatically collect personal information. If you voluntarily email us, we receive the email address, message, and any attachments you choose to provide. We use that information only to answer and manage your support request; we do not sell it or use it for advertising. We retain support correspondence only as long as reasonably necessary to resolve the request and maintain support records. You may ask us to delete it by emailing us, subject to any legal obligations.
When you visit this website, the hosting provider may process standard server-log information, such as your IP address, browser type, requested page, and access time, to operate and secure the website. This is separate from the FileDedup app and does not include your files, scan results, or hashes.
Children's privacy
FileDedup does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app does not collect user data, it does not create profiles for children or other users.
Data security and retention
We do not retain FileDedup scan data on developer servers. Local app settings and reports you export are managed by you through macOS. Uninstalling FileDedup may not remove reports that you chose to export.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as FileDedup changes. We will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. If we introduce cloud services, analytics, or account features, we will update this policy and the App Store privacy information accordingly.
